Bear, Annie

Bio : Annie is from Witchekan Lake First Nation and speaks English and Cree. She taught herself her crafts at sixteen and is now seventy-six. Annie loved to sew, and many women did beadwork then.

Annie makes gloves, beaded moccasins, makeup bags, mukluks, barrettes, belt buckles, children's wraparounds, beadwork for dance regalia and moss bags. She can make dresses but prefers to just do beadwork.

Annie would like to see other young people learn the crafts so they don't die out and they learn a part of their culture. Annie is regarded as an Elder.
