Request for Language Presentation

Provision of language presentation is an essential and ongoing endeavor of the SICC. These services include First Nations languages information and teaching, contemporary language teaching, workshops, translation services, and assisting with cultural camps and other events.

  • The two-term university level Plains Cree course for the University of Saskatchewan allowing staff to remain current with their teaching skills;
  • The language workshops delivered to First Nations youth at the Treaty 4 Gathering in Fort Qu’Appelle;
  • The facilitated workshops on the SICC children’s book series and teacher resource material at City Park Collegiate in Saskatoon;
  • The facilitated workshops and hosted events on a weekly basis for Storytelling Month throughout February;
  • The translation services provided for the SICC Elders Council;
  • The facilitated annual language camp for Kahkewistahaw First Nation;
  • The facilitated Fourth Annual Kawacatoose Cultural Camp held in August where the Languages department and Cultural Resource Management department covered the history of the Plains Cree language and syllabics; and,
