6. Quotations
Quotations in Denes¶øiné are almost always direct. This is usually accomplished in stories with two quotation words, one before and one after the quotation.

Tßqkwi hadi ¿ú, “ejq násther hénü.
‘ the old woman said, “I live here” she said’

Deneyu hayéøni ¿ú, “naghúþas” yéønü.
‘ the man told him/her ,”let’s go” he told him/her’

Sometimes the first quotation word is omitted.

“hesa” “ I am going”, he said.
