Union Catalogue (SUNCAT) Web Catalogue
These
are located on the Saskatchewan
Libraries site, under Find Books & Information - Library
Catalogues.
Hours
of Operation: 8:30 - 4:30, Monday to Friday, open
over lunch. Everyone is welcome.
Material
Available: Books, videocassettes, audiocassettes,
periodicals, microforms and vertical files (pamphlets, etc.).
Registration:
All patrons wishing to borrow materials must register and
present identification. Registration may be done through the
mail if valid identification is given.

students of SIAST and University of Saskatchewan and those
outside Saskatoon but with access to a public library, see
the Interlibrary Loans section below for
another option to borrow materials.
Individual
Memberships
- Members
of Saskatchewan First Nations (treaty status individuals)
are required to pay a refundable deposit of $20.00 (effective
September 1, 2004, nonretroactive). This registration is
valid only at SICC and will be renewed annually, subject
to all overdue materials being returned, and all fines and
invoices paid. The deposit can be returned at any time,
subject to all overdue materials being returned, and all
fines and invoices paid. This process takes approximately
two days.
- All
other individuals will be asked to pay a non-refundable
yearly fee of $20.00 (effective September 1, 2004, nonretroactive).
Institutional
Memberships
Institutional
memberships are available to First Nations and non-First Nations
organizations in Saskatchewan.
- First
Nations institutions are entitled to a membership at no
charge.
- Non-First
Nations institutions are required to pay a yearly membership
of $50.00.
Institutional
memberships include
- agreement
that the institution will be responsible for all materials
borrowed,
- the
name of an individual who has authority to generate payment
of outstanding fines and invoices of members who are authorized
to borrow, and
- a list
of authorized borrowers for the institution.
The SICC
Library does not loan items out-of-province.
Circulation:
The borrowing party is responsible for all overdue fines and
invoices for lost materials. Material overdue will be assumed
to be lost after being overdue for 30 days. Lost materials
will be invoiced at replacement cost (from $10.00 to $200.00
per item).
Books,
videocassettes, and audiocassettes are loaned for 3 weeks
(individuals) and 6 weeks (institutions).
Periodicals,
microforms and vertical file material are not loaned. A photocopier
is available at $0.10 per page, subject to copyright legislation.
Loan renewals
can be done by telephone, fax, mail or email. For contact
information select 'Contact Us' and see the Branch Office
contact information.
Interlibrary
Loan: The SICC Library also lends material through
Interlibrary Loan. ILL is available free to libraries in Saskatchewan
who reciprocally loan to the SICC and other libraries. Material
must be sent to the library, not to another organization or
to an individual. We provide ILL to the University of Saskatchewan,
SIAST-Kelsey Campus, and Saskatchewan Public Libraries through
the Provincial Library.
Interlibrary
Loan for University of Saskatchewan and Kelsey-SIAST students:
- select
materials to borrow
- take
materials to desk
- staff
member will make a printout of materials requested
- take
printout to campus library and ask for Interlibrary Loan
(for U of S: Main Library, Reference Desk)
- materials
are delivered from SICC library to campus library in 2-3
days
- pick
up materials at campus library
- return
materials to your campus library when finished with them
Overdue
Notification and Fines: Overdue charges are $0.25
per day for all items.
A first
notice is mailed for materials two weeks beyond due date.
An invoice equal to the replacement cost is mailed for materials
four weeks beyond due date.
All borrowing
privileges are suspended while a patron has an outstanding
overdue, fine, or invoice for lost materials. Deposits cannot
be returned until all overdue materials are returned and all
fines and invoices are paid.
Mailing
Materials: Loans outside of Saskatoon (but within
Saskatchewan), as well as interlibrary loans, can be mailed.
The SICC library pays outgoing shipping and borrowers are
responsible for return shipping.
Quick
Information: For First Nations individuals and institutions
in Saskatchewan, we will fax up to 5 pages of research information
for free. Bibliographies would be one example.
First
Nation School Library Assistance: We assist libraries
at the band level. Instructional workshops are given to the
personnel who staff these facilities. We can assist in such
areas as library procedures, library automation, and others.
Band libraries should feel free to contact
us with requests for help they may require.
