Cultural Centre Staff Receive Honourable Mention

The audio-visual department of the Saskatchewan Indian Cultural Center received an honorable mention for its production, "Dance of the Northern Plains", at the Saskatchewan Film and Video Showcare Festival held in Regina, on November 13 and 14.

'Dancer of the Northern Plains' is a fifteen minute production portraying both traditional and modern dancers of the Cree, Sioux Assiniboine and Saulteaux nations. The production by the Cultural Center was among one-hundred competitions in various categories.

Ted Whitecalf, director of the Cultural Centers' technical unit, along with technicians, Harrison Thunderchild and James Smith created the video production. Ted Whitecalf accepted the award on behalf of the Saskatchewan Indian Cultural Center.
