Poorman Named Outstanding Boxer

Gerald Poorman of the Regina Boxing Club was named the Outstanding Intermediate at a boxing card held recently at Miller Collegiate in Regina.

Poorman defeated David Nightingale of Cranbook, B.C. when Nightingale voluntarily withdrew in the second round of the 139 pound class.

The card featured boxers from Cranbrook, Nelson, B.C. and Saskatchewan. Pugilists from the Cranbrook Club claimed five wins, the most by one contingent.

Cranbrook's Derrick Hoyt won by a split decision over Regina's Alan Desjarlais in the 132 pound Intermediate Class while Billy Watson, also of Cranbrook took a unanimous I decision over Tony Bouchard of Soo Line in the 156 pound Intermediate category.

Peter Blair of Cranbrook was labelled the outstanding Junior, Pat Fiacco of Regina the most Sportsmanlike and Hoyt winner of the most outstanding bout.

65 Pound - Ringo Assiniboine, Gordons Boxing Club, won voluntarily knockout over Frank Fiacco, Regina Boxing Club.

80 Pound - Clarence Campbell, Regina Boxing Club, won, unanimously over David Moosewaypayo, Gordon Boxing Club.

85 lb. - Terry Acoose, Regina Boxing Club, won split decision over Edward Badger, Gordon Boxing Club.

95 Pound - Calvin Starr, Regina Boxing Club, won unanimously over Pat Kucik, Ponteix Boxing Club.

Junior:

65 Pounds - Neil Churchill, Cranbrook Boxing Club, won split decision over Gary Baptiste, Cando Boxing Club.

70 Pounds - Freddie Fox, Regina Boxing Club, won unanimously over Larry Adams, Cranbrook Boxing Club.

80 Pounds - Peter Blair, Cranbrook Boxing Club, won unanimously over Pat Fiacco, Regina Boxing Club.

95 Pounds - David Hodgkinson, Nelson Boxing Club", won by knockout over Gary Nanapay, Gordon Boxing Club.

112 Pounds - Eldon Moosomin Regina Boxing Club, won voluntarily retirement over Neil Doricic, Cranbrook Boxing Club.

Intermediate

125 Pounds - Jimmy Blair, Cranbrook Boxing Club, won voluntarily retirement over Hilliard Friday, Gordon Boxing Club.

125 Pounds- Kerry Leader Regina Boxing Club, won by split decision over Billy Watson, Cranbrook, Boxing Club.
