Community & Economic Development

Three years ago, local residents collaborated to start a potato plantation with the only intention being to provide food for their community. It has since turned into an economic venture for the community. The plantation had meager beginnings, with little machinery or storage space. Locals did most work manually and used any available storage space.

Today, the community has over $160,000 invested in this economic venture. The plantation has put 60 people to work seasonally. It has also expanded to include production and sales of other vegetables. Through the help of provincial grants, the plantations has truly blossomed! Produce sales include other provinces, as well as our neighboring country, the United States.
