The Cumberland House Cree Nation has had numerous
developments occur over the past year. Some of those developments are
In the area of fire protection services, Cumberland
House received funding to purchase and construct a fire truck and fire hall.
The First Nations Fire Protection Program was completed in September
Plans are being made, in a cooperative effort between
other First Nations and the Prince Albert Grand Council Health & Social
Development, to establish daycare facilities for various First Nation
Cumberland House recently received a Certification
of Recognition Award from the Saskatchewan Indian Housing Commission in recognition
of completing band housing units. The housing units were constructed
by the homeowners with the materials being supplied by the band.
Cumberland House also recently implemented the Housing
Maintenance Training Program. The objective of this program was to
train 12 individuals from the band in the area of construction for a total
of nine weeks (both in-class and on work site). Nine of the twelve
members enrolled successfully completed the program.
