Cote First Nation is located 16 kilometres W of the province of Manitoba and is 8088 hectares in size. The earliest known leader was Saulteaux Chief, Gabriel Cote, a noted hunter/trader. In 1874, Chief Cote signed Treaty No. 4 on behalf of four headmen and 254 band members. Presently there are 2,487 registered members, with roughly 670 residing on-reserve. The official language spoken is Saulteaux.
