SICC National Aboriginal Day Celebrations

Annually, SICC plans, coordinates and hosts National Aboriginal Day Celebrations geared towards school aged children from grades K to 6. There are cultural activities for children to observe and participate in. A barbecue lunch is available free of charge. Festivities are enjoyed by staff, students and teachers.
Planning is underway for 2016! The celebrations will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. This day long event will be held on the grounds of the English River Business Complex. The SICC focuses on showcasing First Nations song, dance, teachings, stories, fun and other activities. The celebration includes Pow Wow dance performances, a free hot dog BBQ lunch and more! If school children have a special diet, it is suggested that they bring a packed lunch.
The event will run from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The AM and PM tend to repeat, therefore, classrooms are invited to stay for the morning from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm or the afternoon session from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm free of charge. SICC suggests early preregistration to prevent disappointment as spots are limited to the first 600 registered children. As well, this allows schools the time to arrange field trip take home slips for your school children.
