SICC National Aboriginal Day Celebrations

Annually and in the past, SICC planned, coordinated and hosted National Aboriginal Day Celebrations geared towards school aged children from grades K to 6. There are cultural activities for children to observe and participate in. A barbecue lunch is available free of charge. Festivities are enjoyed by staff, students and teachers. Planning is underway with changes for 2017 and beyond!

For 2017, the SICC is partnering with Wanuskewin Heritage Park, CHEP Good Food Inc., Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation, Heritage Canada and University of Saskatchewan. The celebrations will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. This free event will run from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at Wanuskewin Heritage Park. The SICC focuses on showcasing First Nations song, dance, teachings, stories, fun and other activities. The AM and PM tend to repeat, however, there is lots to see. Therefore, children are invited to stay for part of or all day. Children are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch or money to purchase a lunch from the Wanuskewin Heritage Park Restaurant.
